THE BINDAAS Journey

My journey with bachata began in the spring of 2018 in Amsterdam, where I started learning both salsa and bachata. While both dance styles attracted me, it was the rhythm and soul of bachata music that truly had my heart. Within a few months, I found myself drawn exclusively to bachata classes, immersing myself in bachata steps and passionate music.

The more I danced, the more I connected with the vibrant bachata community. My newfound friends and I decided to attend our first bachata festival in Belgium in 2018. This experience was transformative, the energy of the performances, the diversity of workshops, and the exhilaration of the parties deepened my love for bachata. I became a bachata addict, eagerly participating in workshops and bootcamps across the Netherlands and Europe, learning from renowned instructors and improving my bachata dancing skills.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought an abrupt halt to our dancing endeavours. However, once restrictions eased in 2021, I re-entered the bachata world with renewed enthusiasm, attending festivals and expanding my network of bachateros globally. Yet, I soon realized that bachata had taken over most of my life. My dedication to dance started affecting my professional and personal commitments. To regain balance, I took a two-month BREAK from bachata and social media. This break was crucial in helping me realign my priorities and rejuvenate my passion for dance.

With a wealth of experiences and insights from various festivals, I felt a strong desire to contribute back to the bachata community. Inspired by the diverse elements of the festivals I had attended and infused with a unique Indian touch, I conceptualized "BINDAAS Bachata" in December 2022. The vision was to create an event that combined the essence of bachata with unique concepts and creating memorable experience for everyone.

In March 2023, BINDAAS Bachata became a reality. Our inaugural event received overwhelming appreciation, quickly establishing a reputation for excellence in the Netherlands and beyond. BINDAAS Bachata is not just an event; it’s a celebration of community, culture, and the unifying power of dance. Our journey is ongoing, and we are excited to continue bringing exceptional bachata experiences to dancers everywhere.

 BINDAAS is an Indian slang, which has multiple meanings such as carefree, fearless , freedom, independent, cool, relaxed, confident chill etc. It's often used to describe a lively, enthusiastic, or confident attitude. When paired with  "bachata," it means  fun, carefree, and vibrant approach to the dance or event.
